Watch and learn as three horse training teams, battle it out for the prestigious title in this educational horse starting demonstration.
This event is designed to showcase the talent of three trainers invited by Glen Mia Saddlery Bega to take halter broken horses and train them over the three days of Cobargo Show.
Each participant is celebrated for their horsemanship talents and you will get to see their every step as these leading horse trainers demonstrate their highly personal and specialised methods. The three trainers in the ring this year will be "old timer trainers", going head to head in 2023.
Trainer 1 - Michael Green
Trainer 2 - Mick Otton
Trainer 3 - Dave Brown
Trainers will select a horse from a hat
on Friday morning and will have an hour and a half in each working session, twice a day, over the three days of the show. These sessions will equate to the equivalent of 9 hours in total.
Horses will be trained simultaneously in round pens in front of the crowd on the dog arena. Participants will be wearing microphones allowing you to hear the reasoning behind their highly personal and very specialised methods.
On Sunday afternoon, prior to the Rodeo the trainers will showcase their achievements with each horse. The winning Training Team wins a Southern Cross saddle. This competition is a great opportunity for horse owners and the general public to gain an understanding of successful training methods and techniques.
